Girls’ Generation and Kara have been invited to NHK′s 62nd music special Red & White Song Battle, Japan′s top year-end show.

NHK′s Red & White Song Battle is a show that divides more than 50 singers and artists that have led active music careers in Japan during the year into competing teams of red and white.

This will be the first time for Girls’ Generation and Kara to appear on the program.

Kara’s Park Gyuri said, “[We′re] very moved [by the invitation]," while Nicole commented, “I want to join the show wearing a red dress.”

Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung spoke in fluent Japanese, “I’m honored to be in the Red & White Song Battle, which boasts a long history of 62 years. I’ll do my best to put on great performances like sunbaes (senior) BoA and TVXQ.”

Sankei Sports also reported, “Kara, whose member Kang Jiyoung is still a minor, will warm up the stage by performing for 45 minutes from 7:15 to 8pm for the opening along with the show’s youngest-ever participant, seven-year-old Ashida Mana.” In Japan, celebrities who are underage are not allowed to appear on TV after 9pm.
