Korean Boyband TVXQ from “Five to Two”, how did members Jung Yunho and Shim Changmin adjust to this group change? Are both of them closer to each other now? Or rather, do they keep in contact with the other 3 ex members? When TVXQ held their fan party in Singapore yesterday, these questions were being avoided when they had a press conference; there were many questions left unanswered.

Yesterday, TVXQ held their fan party at the indoor stadium, and had a press conference there before the event started.

The problem with their agency screening questions

TVXQ’s original 5 members were leader Jung Yunho, Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun, Kim Junsu and Shim Changmin, and they were under the well known company SM Entertainment. They debuted in February 2004, and instantly became the most popular group of the new era. However, the current active TVXQ only comprises of Jung Yunho and Shim Changmin. Kim Jaejoong, Kim Junsu and Park Yoochun had filed a lawsuit with SM Entertainment in 2009 because of a problem in the contract, and eventually chose to leave their agency, then continuing their artiste career as “JYJ” .

At the press conference, reporters were most concerned about how did Jung Yunho and Shim Changmin cope with the“group change”? However, before the press conference started, the staff told reporters that they were not allowed to ask this question.
In addition, this was just one of the many questions that were not allowed to be asked. Other questions that were forbidden include: What are the good and bad points about this current TVXQ? Are they disappointed that they could not attend the previous MAMA ceremony? Are both of them closer to each other now after the group became “Five to Two?”

These questions, were all forbidden to be asked.

Eventually, the reporters could only ask really “safe” questions; questions that were less interesting, such as their experiences in overseas events; which do they feel is much more tiring, singing or acting?

Recently, TVXQ has also entered the drama industry. “Poseidon”, which starred Jung Yunho and Choi Siwon, received much popularity.

Comparing singing and acting, Jung Yunho expressed, “We have been challenging ourselves constantly, to sing better; acting is harder, because we are all green horns when it comes to acting.”

Shim Changmin continued, “I feel similar to what Yunho said, about trying to sing and act well.”

Lost contact with JYJ?

Reporters wanted to ask the duo, if they still kept in touch with JYJ, but this question was also not allowed to be asked.

What was puzzling, was that Jung Yunho and Shim Changmin had answered to these so called “sensitive” questions during overseas promotional events before.

Previously, when the duo were doing promotions in China, they had already lost contact with JYJ members Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun and Kim Junsu.

TVXQ was forced to halt activities for 2 years due to the conflict between the 3 members and SM Entertainment. “Initially, we were waiting for them to change their minds, however after much time, we also realised we have to protect TVXQ first.”

Regarding rumours about the duo losing contact with JYJ, they revealed, “That was not the truth, (JYJ) didn’t contact us, and even if we wanted to contact them, we don’t have a way to, because they have changed their mobile numbers, even if they contacted us first, we would not have picked up the call because it would be an unknown number, and we wouldn’t dare to pick up unknown calls because of the many phone pranks.”

This same question was being asked, but the agency had forbidden the local media to pose this question to Jung Yunho and Shim Changmin, which seemed as if they showed favouritism.

Even though questions that could be thrown at during the press conference were censored until it was very “safe”, it was still rather “strict”.

Jung Yunho and Shim Changmin sat on chairs on the small stage, and had quite a distance between the five reporters. In addition, there were 3 bodyguards, 6 staffs in presence besides a translator; is the local media that “dangerous”?!

Too solemn

Recently, TVXQ members had revealed much about each other during variety shows.

Jung Yunho had revealed on “Strong Heart”, that he was very bothered by the fact that Shim Changmin was 2cm taller than him. He also revealed, although TVXQ looked like tall giants on stage, beneath lies a secret in his shoes.

He admitted, “I secretly stuffed a thin shoe pad in my shoes.”

When Changmin his confession, he mocked, “ It’s not thin at all, it seems as if he’s floating in the air.”, meaning that the shoe pads Yunho used were rather thick.

Yunho felt indignant about being exposed, and continued to reveal, “Sometimes, Changmin uses shoe pads too.”

If their agency could also let the duo be as relaxed during the press conference, as they were at variety shows, generously revealing a relaxed side of them, local reporters would not have felt so indignant.
